Positive/negative pumpkins & ghouls

Taking what they have learned in the symmetrical name project, grade 4 started making pumpkins and ghouls thinking about symmetry and positive/negative space.   

"The Dot"

Today, in KS we read "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds.  After a brief discussion we talked about the term "abstract" and how they were going to make abstract art.   Below, you will see kindergarten hard at work painting their dots.   Their art came out beautiful!!!

Name Sculptures-Grade 5

5th grade is starting off the year working 3-dimensionally.  Through the use of line, shape, color and space, they will construct their names out of paper.  Below you will see the early stages of this project.
