2C started their name designs on Friday. The criteria for the project is as follows: Block or bubble letters, the use of a ruler to divide the space into different sections and use colored pencils to create solid colors and patterns in each different section. This is a true challenge for grade 2 that requires patiences. Day 1 went great as you can see from the photos below.

Hand tracing-Kindergarten
Today, KP learned that a line makes a shape by closing off the 'tails' of the line. They traced their hands, used crayons and then started to paint. This technique is called wax resist. They worked so hard today and will finish up next Thursday! Take a look at the photos from class today.
Classroom Quilt
4T worked together today to piece together their art. The finished product will be hanging in their classroom for open house.
3N Paper tiles
Today 3N completed their paper tiles and worked as a team to create a class quilt. Each student was able to create a piece I artwork that reflected who they were. I saw many great ideas, from favorite numbers, creative name designs, favorite locations, self portraits and the list goes on!!!

Welcome Back Franklin Families!!!
I can't believe we will all be back at Franklin this week. What a quick summer it was!! I am looking forward to a great year with your child(ren)-I have many new ideas and projects in store and can't wait to get to work.
Please check back to the Franklin Art Room blog for updates. This year I will be organizing art projects on this blog by grade level so it should be a little easier to see what is happening in my art room.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and I will see everyone on Tuesday!
Best,
Mrs. Rivera
